Installing insulating header wrap

Installing Insulating Exhaust Wrap - How-To
Ok fellas, here's the basic header wrap on my 450x. I used 2" header wrap, they also make 1" that might be a little easier to wrap around the bends with. But since I had the 2" I used it, it works just fine.

I started on the engine side of the pipe, don't forget
to have your flange on the pipe, if you forget, you
will not be able to get it on over the wrap. Start
your wrap close to the flange as you can, secure with
a hose clamp. Keep in mind the position of the clamp,
you don't want the clamp in the way of the exhaust
studs and nuts.

Start wrapping the pipe, make sure you overlap, and
wrap it TIGHT. The manufacture recommends 1/4 overlap,
that is very hard to do with the tight bends on a
bike. I just did the best I could, without wrinkles.

Tip: after a wrap, gab the wrap and pipe, twist the
wrap, this will tighten it up.

When you get to the end, (I did not wrap the flared
area) I was afraid there would not be enough clearance
by the frame. Cut the wrap.

Hose clamp the other end now, keep in mind the clamp
position, with regards to the frame clearance ect......

Cut the excess wrap off with scissors, then cut it
close to the clamp with an utility knife also. Make
sure the clamps are tight on both ends, the tighter
the clamps, the better it will keep it from fraying.

Reinstall your header, note the position of the clamps.

Here is the finished look.
When you first start the bike up, it will smoke a lot. They also recommend not to use to much pressure from a power washer. This may cause it to start fraying prematurely. It took me about 19 feet to do my header.
